Maltby, WA: The Cafe, the Farms, and Where to Stay

Maltby is unincorporated Snohomish County farmland — no downtown to speak of, just a crossroads and one very good reason people drive out here on purpose.
Maltby Cafe A breakfast institution set in a former school gymnasium on Maltby Rd, open 7AM to 3PM for breakfast, lunch, and dinner — the cinnamon rolls are the reason people know the name. It's a popular stop for cyclists passing through, so expect a wait on weekend mornings.
Farms and open space Bob's Corn and Pumpkin Farm and Craven Farm are both a few miles out, worth the trip in the fall for a pumpkin patch and corn maze. Lord Hill Regional Park has miles of forested hiking and horse trails if you want to actually get outside rather than just eat and drive. Historic Downtown Snohomish, with its antique shops and river walk, is about a 15-minute drive.

Set in a former 1930s school gymnasium — bleachers, hoops, and the Maltby Eagles banner still up. The cinnamon roll is the headline: bigger than your head, drowned in frosting, walnuts if you want them. But the rest of the menu is pure roadside-diner nostalgia done right — Swedish pancakes with house jam, Country Fried Steak that covers the plate, Eggs Benedict for the brunch crowd. Portions are huge, coffee is bottomless, and yes — you will wait, 30–60 minutes on weekend mornings. Popular with cyclists on the 522 corridor, so they're used to a crowd. Takeout is available.

Bob's Corn and Pumpkin Farm
10917 Elliott Rd, Snohomish, WA
Multi-generational, sprawling, and slightly chaotic in the best way. The Country Store is open year-round; the Fall Festival starts with sunflowers in late August and runs into full harvest mode. A 10-acre corn maze plus a night maze with flashlights, hayrides, an apple cannon, gem mining, pumpkin donuts, and hot apple cider that actually tastes like apples.

Craven Farm

A silver-wood barn, weddings in summer, pumpkins in fall — more pay-as-you-go than Bob's. U-pick, a corn maze with trivia questions, a baby animal barn that will derail your afternoon, rubber duck races, and mini golf.

Lord Hill Regional Park
12921 150th St SE, Snohomish, WA
Snohomish County's largest park — 11 miles of forested hiking, horse, and bike trails. Open 7am–8pm, with parking at the north and south trailheads. Equestrian-friendly (you will meet horses), plus Beaver Lake, wetlands, and pockets of old-growth forest.

Historic Downtown Snohomish

A designated Washington Main Street Community with the largest collection of antique shops in Washington, a river walk, and breweries tucked into brick buildings. A good afternoon after brunch — about 30 minutes from Maltby if you take the back roads.
