Judkins Park, Seattle: The New Light Rail Station and Where to Stay

Judkins Park has quietly become one of the best-connected corners of Seattle -- a six-block park and playfield in the Central Area that's now also home to a brand-new light rail station, with a major renovation on the way.
Judkins Park and Playfield Ballfields, a spray park, a skate spot, tennis and basketball courts, and picnic shelters spread across six blocks named for pioneer realtor Norman B. Judkins. A $4.5 million renovation -- including accessibility upgrades and a public art installation honoring the neighborhood's African American history -- is planned for construction in 2027.
Judkins Park Station Seattle's newest light rail connection: an at-grade 2 Line station that opened March 28, 2026 in the median of I-90, with entrances at both Rainier Ave S and 23rd Ave S. It sits along the Mountains to Sound Trail, putting the whole regional trail system a short walk from the park.
